Kendall's Garage: A Study in Beige

Let’s just say it, shall we? Kendall Jenner’s house. It’s become something of a phenomenon. Or at least, her garage has. A perfectly curated, beige-drenched space that has the internet buzzing. And not always in a good way.

Now, I’m not one to shy away from a minimalist aesthetic. In fact, I rather admire a well-edited life. A place for everything and all that. But there’s something about the sheer volume of beige in that garage – the vast expanse of it – that feels, well, a little… sterile. Like a very chic waiting room for the apocalypse.

Don’t get me wrong, the girl clearly has taste. Expensive taste, one might say. The vintage Porsche tucked away in the corner? The artfully arranged stacks of art books? It all speaks to a certain kind of lifestyle. One that most of us can only dream of.

But it’s the beige, you see. The relentless, all-encompassing beige. It’s in the walls, the floors, the furniture. Even the light seems to be filtered through a beige lens. It’s enough to make you crave a splash of color. A rogue red sock, perhaps. Or a stray can of Coke.

I remember once, years ago, I interviewed a very famous designer – someone known for their love of black, head-to-toe black. I walked into his studio, a stark white space, and there he was, a vision in black amidst the blinding white. He looked at me, smiled wryly, and said, “You know, sometimes I just want to throw a bucket of red paint at the wall.”

I think of that moment often when I see these perfectly curated spaces. These shrines to good taste and minimalist perfection. Because where’s the life? The messiness? The individuality?

A home, even a garage, should be a reflection of the people who inhabit it. A place where personality can breathe and quirks can roam free. A space that tells a story, even if that story is a little chaotic, a little lived-in.

Now, I’m not suggesting we all embrace chaos and clutter. There’s a fine line between charmingly disheveled and just plain messy. But there’s something to be said for a space that feels authentic, that reflects the soul of its owner. A place where you can imagine someone actually living, laughing, maybe even spilling a little coffee on the pristine beige rug.

So, Kendall, if you’re reading this, I implore you. Add a splash of color. Hang a quirky piece of art. Embrace the imperfection. Because life, my dear, is rarely ever beige.
